Representatives from Onondaga Community Living and the Connections Program recently took part in NYSACRA’s Legislative Day 2005. The group was fortunate enough to have a meeting with Senator John DeFrancisco. During their meeting with the Senator they discussed the way Medicaid has helped each member of the agency live as independently as possible. Each person described their living situation and let Senator DeFrancisco know how they felt any cuts in Medicaid would affect the way they live their daily lives.

Annual Picnic - 2005

OCL had it's annual picnic at Green Lakes State Park on July 15th, an event that was well attended by all. Dre and Richard did a great job at shopping ahead of time. Richard and Jim manned the grill and kept the hots and burgers coming. Everyone really outdid themselves with some marvelous dishes to pass. There was a large variety of delicious items to pick from. Thanks to Dolores everyone kept cooled down (whether they wanted to or not!) with the numerous spray bottles and water guns that she brought. There were many water wars going on for most of the day. Debbie put together some crafts to make and people enjoyed making items to bring home. Pat and Nick organized the tie dying this year and for a change we tried canvas book bags. There is little doubt that Nick might have won a prize with the bag he made for his sister this year! There was a sing along with Ron, Debbie and Dolores in the lead, and volley ball, swimming and walks around the lake. It was a day of quality time with much relaxation and ample fun!
